Eliran's Story:
My name is Eliran Amar, and I have been a Tribal Fusion bellydancer and instructor for over 20 years.
When I discovered this style of dance, I totally fell in love. It is a perfect mixture of Arabic, electronic, and gothic elements, both in the music and in the costumes. Since I have Moroccan roots and also loved gothic arts it was the perfect match.
The beginning was hard. Being a male bellydancer is not common, and it was even worse 20 years ago. Every show, every class, every event I did was really breaking the glass ceiling.
The world has given me so many reasons to quit, especially in the beginning when I honestly wasn't "good enough", the strange looks, the comments from other men or children... but at the end, loving the dance form and believing in myself turned out to be a huge WIN!
In one year I became a teacher of more than 20 classes a week and became known worldwide, teaching and performing all around the world. Italy, Hungary, France, Spain, Germany, Sweeden, South Africa and so many more countries were places I got regularly invited to teach and perform at. Being persistent and true to myself really paid off, and I got to travel and meet so many talented beautiful people, and visit so many wonderful places.
In the last few years I created a method of teaching the dance form that has proven to be very successful. Many of my students have become teachers themselves and it makes me super happy to spread the knowledge and the love of belly dance.
Now, I am excited to meet you, dancers in New York city, and share with you in a workshop some of the best things I have learned throughout the years.
